a twist on my original valentine's day post

hello lovers! *big kiss, mwah*

I know it’s Valentine’s day… and I was really working on a different post for you today, but I just wasn’t feeling connected to it and on a day like this, it’s all about connection to who or what we love! I didn’t love that post so I shelved it! Love is a year round commodity so I am hoping I can rework it and figure out a way to post it later that makes sense. (Also, a big thank you to everyone who gave me ideas for that one, you know who you are!)

Instead, I am going to devote this post to something I truly love – the martini!

We know her, we adore her, and she doesn’t care if you are single, open, in a situationship or a throuple, she will always show you love! One thing I love about a martini is it is not only a drink I find myself having with my boyfriend most often, but it is the drink I crave most when I am alone! When I am traveling for work, it’s always my partner in crime when I have to have a solo dinner at the bar with no one to talk to or the drink I want to enjoy in bed with room service. Classic and unfussy and reliable like a good boyfriend/girlfriend/theythemfriend <3

And because I love you all A LOT, I thought I would surprise you with a little *twist* (haha, GET IT!?!) and not just give you a list of favorite martinis, but my favorite DISCOUNTED martinis! Because love is love and we love a god damn deal! These happy hours are great with your partner, your friend, and the best date you could ask for – yourself! Happy Valentine’s/Galentine’s day to all who celebrate!

Koloman - $12 martini hour, 4-6 PM, 7 days/week

This bar is sexy, and this restaurant at the ACE Hotel in Manhattan is $$$ so I was *quite* surprised they have any sort of a happy hour, let alone one as good as this! I came with my boyfriend and my parents to kill some time before a dinner reservation near by, and my 12 dollar martini really did not deserve to be so fantastic! If you somehow find yourself in flatiron in the afternoon, make your way here, the happy hour menu has food too!

As You Are - $10 martinis, 5 PM - Close, 7 days/week at the bar

We have hopped across the river to the other ACE hotel, in Downtown Brooklyn! Their restaurant is headed by Camille Becerra (RIP DeMaria) and this happy hour is amazing! Every night from 5-Close at the bar, they have 10 dollar martinis, food, as well as a host of other drink specials. A solid martini for 10 bucks!

Emmett’s on Grove - $9 martinis, 5-6:30 PM, Tues.-Fri.

For 9 bucks at Emmett’s, you get a fab martini and a sizable food menu! Their “happy hour and a half” is a really great deal, and this martini was much better than I was expecting it to be. I easily ended up drinking three….

Little Canal - $12 Espresso Martini, 6-8 PM, Tues.-Fri.

Okay, this one I really wanted to gatekeep from you all tbh. But in the spirit of love, I am letting you in on Little Canal! It is one my favorite coffee shops which many people know about, but they started doing evening cocktail service, which I don’t feel like a lot of people think of them for. They have a great happy hour that runs late until 8 PM, and the true star of it is their espresso martini! They are a great coffee shop so you can only imagine how good this espresso martini is…This place is perfect for when you have dinner nearby in Dimes Square and everywhere is packed. Little Canal is one of my all time go-tos and you can thank me later with a big ol’ smoocharoo.
