hi everyone,
I hope january has been treating everyone well. it’s felt like the absolute longest month, no?! my only resolution this new year was to double down more, and boy, have I been steadfast with it! Monica from RHOSLC must have also got the memo from me, because this real housewives reunion has shown she has NO remorse. but this is a blog about ME not Monica, so we’re not going to go into that. creative liberties etc.
speaking of no remorse, this January has been anything but dry for me and I have been, dare i say, extra busy eating/drinking out – working hard for YOU my loyal amazing readers, big kiss! i have no regrets about it, even if my amex bill and blood sugar are both through the roof. on that note, let’s get into what i enjoyed this month, shall we?
dinner at sailor
deserving of all of the hype and frankly its own post! one of the best meals i have had in the past year. i ate and drank so much i vommed at home (ew, sorry), and i would do it all over again. no notes, 10/10.
highlights include: on point hospitality, a perfect vesper, green toast, stuffed radicchio, tilefish, and profiteroles worth going into a diabetic coma for (the subject of a later post i think you would enjoy).
the vesuvius at alidoro
a perfect lunch in soho under 15 dollars exists! the vesuvius is tuna, provolone and eggplant caponata on fresh hero bread. so good I forgot to snap a pic! i also forgot this gem is right around the corner from my office, so extra convenient.
dinner at tolo with my besties
highlights include: the sweet and sour fried fish, some of the best french fries i have ever had, and tender scallops as well as a FABBU orange wine. tolo is from the same group as parcelle down the street and they share a gorgeous wine list. you cannot go wrong with the wine here and i love that they always give you something great no matter the price and never try to upsell you.
these pierogi i made
carbs on carbs on onions – so good, these are one of my ultimate comfort foods. this one stays between me, my god, and my glucose monitor for how bad my blood sugar was afterwards…
dinner at seoul salon
my parents came into town and my dad specifically requested Korean food! tbh it is not a cuisine I usually seek out or am well versed in, but we ate at the most amazing spot that is suddenly one of my favorites! I’m not sure how traditional the dishes themselves are (more education needed on my part) but boy, were they amazing. will 100% be back, especially considering it’s convenient location for pre-madison sq garden needs!
highlights include: the cocktails - especially my mom’s green concoction, though i had a great rice martini, the soy scallop with rice, the fried shrimp with corn and mozz, and this rose tteokbokki with straciatella and basil!
lunch at radio star bakery
a new spot from the team at glasserie, this is a great spot i would love to go to for breakfast or a peckish dinner with a glass of wine. i came here for lunch and got chili and quiche on a freezing cold day – warming and perfect IMO.
dinner at lord’s
highlights include: another perfect vesper martini, a BOMB caesar salad – saving it for my caesar salad sequel post when it feels right to do – the crispiest chips (fries), cod, and desserts worth extra insulin for!
cake by from lucie
speaking of extra insulin, i’m just gonna leave this here…
thanks for sticking around, TGIFS (thank god it’s february…soon)! as always, I would appreciate if you share/subscribe etc.!
A yummy start to the year ;)
